When ordering a gas cooker, it's important to specify which type of gas you will be using. Different gases require different burner jets. Our gas cookers are supplied with jets for natural gas and LPG/propane, and some models are also approved for town gas. Information relating to what type of gas the cooker is approved for is available in the information relating to each product.
The gas connection is typically made at the back of the cooker with an approved hose and clip (not supplied). Installation must always be carried out by a certified gas engineer to ensure the warranty remains valid.
Installation of natural gas
The natural gas grid in the UK requires a connection of 20 mBar (G20). If you already have gas cooker a gas cooker in your home that is connected to natural gas mains, it will be simple to replace the stove. However, if you want to install a new connection to the natural gas network, the cost will depend on how close to the network you live. Alternatively, an LPG (propane) powered stove may be an option for those who live too far away from the gas grid. Brands whose range cookers are approved for use with natural gas: Pazzano and Lofra.
Installation of LPG (propane)
LPG is an excellent alternative for those who wish to enjoy the benefits of a gas cooker but do not have access to the mains gas supply. Instead, you can connect your gas cooker to an LPG/propane cylinder. While you will need to replace the cylinder occasionally, a gas bottle typically lasts quite a while before needing replacement. Many people choose to keep two cylinders at home – one in use and one as a reserve. A cooker that uses LPG requires the gas burner jets to be designed for 30 mBar (G30). Please inform us when ordering, and we will install the correct burner jets before delivery. If not, the cooker can be modified later to accommodate this.
There are specific regulations regarding the storage of gas cylinders and their size. Gas bottles should always be stored in a well-ventilated area. If you choose to store your cylinder in a kitchen cabinet, it must be ventilated both at the top and bottom. Many people prefer to store their cylinders outside the house in a sheltered area with a hose leading inside to connect to the cooker.
To ensure that all regulations are followed and your warranty remains valid, we recommend consulting a certified gas installer. Brands whose range cookers are approved for use with LPG (propane): Pazzano and Lofra.
